HTCIA is the convergence of two similar communities of interest for the greater public good. It is a synergy between private industry and law enforcement so that each can grow and learn form the collective experiences of the group. The primary focus is on leveraging these experiences for the betterment of society by allowing law enforcement to gain insight into areas they would not otherwise be introduced to and to allow the corporate world to understand better the needs of law enforcement and, more importantly, what it can do to help.
The Western Canadian Chapter (WCC) was born out of necessity. Traditionally, Canada’s HTCIA chapters have been confined to eastern Canada but recent events over the past few years have served to heighten awareness and provide for significant strides within law enforcement and the corporate world regarding high tech crime and security measures. This has in turn caused the community to become more aware of the new challenges, the increasingly complex technologies and, as a consequence, the focus on security has grown at an exponential rate to the point that a chapter in western Canada can be established, supported and sustained.
In an ambitious move forward, the WCC was envisioned to include members from all western Canadian Provinces from Manitoba to Alberta. Our challenge will be in providing useful content and value to our members. It is a challenge we whole heartedly embrace knowing full well that timely communication is of extreme importance.
The first step in meeting this challenge was the genesis of this website, the forums and resources contained within it. By offering it to all members of HTCIA, we hope to be able to provide a useful forum and centre of excellence for all of HTCIA. As such, all members of HTCIA are welcome to the forums and resources of the Western Canadian Chapter of HTCIA and we look forward to building our future together.
